Going out to restaurants is great but it doesn’t really happen much these days. (I’ll wait while you get a tissue. No, not for THAT! Jeez.)
As I was saying, circumstances dictate that the only ‘restaurant’ I go to these days is McDonalds or Pizza Hut with Dexter. If I’m lucky. Not quite The Ivy. But hey, Dexter loves it. (Bloody kids.)
This week I took him to Pizza Hut as a birthday treat. Actually, the treat was for me as I couldn’t be arsed to cook, and as we walked in, the waitress did what a lot of people seem to do. She patted Dexter’s head.
Ummmm …. HOW ABOUT GET OFF HIS HEAD? NOW?? Thanks.
Granted, Dexter has THE best hair in the world. Yeah, I’m biased, but it is a true fact. But I don’t remember inviting a COMPLETE STRANGER to touch it! Dexter wasn’t phased of course – he’s used to it. I on the other hand wanted to give her a bitch slap upside her head.
I’d calmed down by the time we got to the Ice Cream Factory. There’s nothing that Mr Whippy can’t cure, right? (But that’s another story.)
But what is it about kids and ice cream? Why do they have to mix it all up to a sloppy paste that looks like soup/vomit? With the Ice Cream Factory you also have the added ‘bonus’ of all the gubbins on top. You know … the fake Smarties, rank, half amputated jelly teddies and stale chocolate raisins that no kid ever eats anyway.
“Mum … want some of my Gubbin Soup?”
“Erm, not so much son.”
