Whoopee for Becky Stewart, Race for Life Real Funny Woman!

Whoopee for Becky Stewart, Race for Life Real Funny Woman!

11th September 2011

Becky Stewart has been named as the Race for Life Real Funny Woman after her friend, Abbie Marsden nominated her for the Award saying “Becky’s fundraised tirelessly since her Mum’s diagnosis with cancer and, with four friends, raised smiles and spirits wearing giant whoopee cushion costumes!”

Becky will be attending the charity final of the 2011 Funny Women Awards on 26th September at the Leicester Square Theatre as well as the VIP drinks reception at the Groucho Club. She has also won an overnight stay for two people plus a 30 minute spa treatment in a contemporary luxury Grange Hotel in Central London which she is going to treat her mum to.

She Weed

She Weed

I have just spent five days in a field near Norfolk at the Latitude Festival. I have camped out a few times before, but never for four nights with forecasted thunder and torrential rain. I was hoping forecasts would be wrong, but alas it rained and it rained and it rained. Thank goodness for wellies and plastic ponchos!

There was so much to do and see.  I also wasted an hour of my life watching some odd contemporary dance set in a hotel where characters swapped roles which I couldn’t fathom - and I’ve got a GCSE in Dance. (I could tell you all about Rambert’s Death and The Maiden and knew exactly was going on you know!) I gave up five minutes before i…

I Shall Miss You, Mystic Meg

I Shall Miss You, Mystic Meg

11th July 2011

I'm back! Apologies for my absence, but it has been a busy couple of weeks. Popped down to Devon to watch my niece in her dance show which of course was the best thing I have ever seen and she was the best and most beautiful dancer in the history of the world ever!

Was itching to get up and join in with the 'adult tappers' but as Marilyn the dance teacher said to me, 'You are always itching, you should scratch that itch!' She is right, of course. There is no age limit with tap, just fun to be had...maybe at the next show.... Marilyn used to teach me tap, ballet and majorettes until I was 9, I'm now 34 and she looks ever youthful and dances with grace…

Burn, Baby, Burn!

Burn, Baby, Burn!

4th July 2011

It was my last Race for Life 2011 at Blackheath today - what a scorcher! I took part in the 5k race and some brave souls took part in a 10k later on that day...Bless you 10k ladies, takes some doing!

Over 8,000 women took part in the first event so it took some organising to get us going - we love queuing, don't we ladies? Once again I forgot to put sunscreen on my face. By the end not only was I craving a Calippo but I had a face like a tomato. Felt a bit silly, but it was my own fault...not only did I have egg on my face but you could fry it on the heat that was coming off it!

I felt quite sad leaving the park that day as I have had such a great experience as part…

Feel the Burn

Feel the Burn

29th June 2011

This weekend I performed at three Race For Life events in Richmond. I followed the sea of pink ladies to Old Deer Park and did my usual 10 minutes on stage in my big fat gypsy tutu and got myself ready to join in with the walkers (perhaps next year I will graduate to the joggers section?!).

It was quite nice weather for it - not too hot and a little windy. In fact, when I was on stage I mentioned that I may 'blow off' which caused a few giggles. I reassured them that I didn't mean it in the baked beans sense!

In the onstage warm-up there was a group of cheerleaders, and I suggested we should make a human pyramid with me on top – later on they lifted me…
