Second Sunday Success

Sunday night saw a fantastic and warm welcome back to our Second Sunday Showcase. Host, Julie Jepson, one of our 2005 finalists, started the evening by getting to know each member of the lively crowd at the Leicester Square Theatre studio. Julie also treated the audience to her ‘google face’… priceless!
First up on the bill was Iona Dudley-Ward attempting to inspire confidence in the audience once again with her character of Lyn, the confidence coach, who has a hilariously nervous disposition.

I was very much humbled and honoured to be amongst the guests at this year’s Women of the Year Lunch at the Intercontinental Hotel, London on Monday 11th October.
It doesn’t seem appropriate to try and be funny about an event like this, but you do get slightly punch drunk by the amount of fame in the room – Lulu, Julie Walters, Annie Lennox, Baroness Kennedy, the Right Honourable Theresa May our new Home Secretary, Sandi Toksvig who hosted so brilliantly, just to name drop a few. It has been only a couple of weeks since the Funny Women Awards Final and already our winners, Thankless Child, are topping the bill along with some big comedy names. Liz Black and Freya Slipper will be performing alongside acts including Jo Brand next Monday, October 18th, at the prestigious Comedy Store in the heart of London’s West End. This event is in aid of the Family Planning Association. Also performing that night are Matt Green and Mark Thomas.
