Christmas can be disappointing. We’ve come to expect those limp-shaped M&S packages under the tree to be a prerequisite part of yuletide’s gifts, as predictable as my mum saying round about half one this is categorically, definitively the last Christmas dinner she is ever cooking. However, we must always be grateful for every small thing we receive, and as if a reminder of that, a severe blast of unpredictable weather has left some millions stranded, unsure as to whether they’ll even be able to feast their eyes on yet another pair this year, or hear the mandatory, familial laments they’ve become so used to.

Here we all are around the tree in our pyjamas! It looks like it’s going to be a duvet Christmas so maybe this is the right wardrobe!
With the promise of more snow, brilliant female comedy on television, including the Angina Monologues on Sky 1 featuring the legendary Victoria Wood and, of course, the wonderful Miranda Christmas Special on BBC2, there’s really no need to leave the sofa! So, that’s we we’ll be doing over the holidays – enjoying a well earned rest from a bumper year of Awards, shows and workshops, our best ever.

We leave this year on a fantastic high as our assistant producer Zoe Grisedale is featured in the January edition of Company magazine along with winner of last year’s Funny Women Awards Miss London, 2008 runner up Sara Pascoe and Danielle Ward. Sarah was a finalist in the 2005 Funny Women Awards
Congratulations to Sarah Millican for her hilarious performance at the Royal Variety Show! On Twitter she stated ‘Royal Variety was amazing. I met four Take Thats and made Prince Charles laugh. Happy.’ Of course the best part of her set has to be her battle with the dreaded self service till – we’ve all been there!
Sarah has also announced that in 2011 she will be joining the Loose Women panel!

Check out comic raconteur supreme Kitty Kavanagh in her wry and witty blog detailing her standup adventures across the globe, well, New Zealand, Australia and America at least. Part experiment, part “just for the hell of it”, Kitty is combining her love of travel with her love of performing comedy. Kitty reached the semi-finals of ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ last year and appears regularly at festivals and Funny Women showcases.
