It's Raining Men

It's Raining Men

30th April 2012

Along with the apocalyptic rain and the double dip recession, we’re all looking for a bit of a lift in the face of austerity.  Having a few men around was bound to liven things up!

Funny Women has always had the support of some brilliant men – our design team at N9 Design in Plymouth is all male and the current production team have wonderfully supportive husbands and boyfriends, ‘HABS’, who help at events and provide broad shoulders to cry on when the going gets tough.

The Funny Women Awards come to Brighton

The Funny Women Awards come to Brighton

30th April 2012

The Funny Women Awards braved the wind and torrential rain on Saturday night and headed to the coast for our Brighton heat at the Caroline of Brunswick.

Short and Girlie’s own Ali Adolph was our fine host for the evening, bringing with her a very professional electronic voting system to poll the willing Brighton audience.  Thankfully, the question of “Are you having fun yet?” received a healthy percentage for “Yes.” Obviously the evening was in very safe hands.

My Funny Mummy

My Funny Mummy

30th April 2012

We asked Cathey Briars, one of our new tribe of Funny Mummies based in Liverpool, whose own very funny website can be found at www.myfunnymummy.org to pen a few words to introduce herself.  Here's what she has to say:

"One woman. One baby. One blog. No idea.

"My Funny Mummy is written by me –a mind blowingly hilarious, stonkingly intelligent and unfeasibly attractive manifestation of all things magical and modest.

"I’m 28. I worry about whether I’ll make 29.

"I could tell you the name of my first goldfish or that I am obsessed with picking chunks of hard skin off my feet, but you don’t care abo…

'Brighton' up your Sunday

'Brighton' up your Sunday

30th April 2012

It seems our favorite seaside town is fast becoming our second home. After a successful Brighton Awards heat on Saturday, we’re back again this coming weekend on Sunday 6th May for the Brighton Festival Fringe 2012 where some special Funny Women events are taking place.

We’re excited to once again be returning to the Brighton Festival Fringe in which Funny Women has proved a popular choice for Festival goers in the past. We’ll be holding an afternoon workshop and topping it off with a bumper showcase in the evening.

Our celebrations kick off with an Introductory workshop at 3.00pm. This is in support of local charity Rise which supports women, children…
